Devotional Sunday: Fear

Hello guys, welcome back!


Today I'm going to be talking about fear and some tips to deal with it. So, what's fear? Fear is the most general term and implies anxiety and usually loss of courage. Also, its an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of danger, real or imagined. Fear isn't something the people should be making jokes about because its so serious that can cause death. 

This emotion can be triggered by a lot of things and sometimes we are not aware that we are afraid of that specific thing, so when it happens we're taken by surprise and it destabilizes us and makes us enter a state of anxiety and increasing fear. It can be triggered by simple things and make us lose control of our lives. 

Today I want to tell you that you're not alone, that its okay to be afraid. to feel that fear emotion it's something that every person at least one in their life experiment. It's an emotion that although sometimes it gets out of your hands, if you propose to yourself and decide to give it to God, you can take control over it and find solutions to deal with it. Like everything in life, isn't going to be easy but with God by your side you can deal with everything. Here are some things that you have to remember and do:

1. Don't let the fear control you!

Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
2. Speak up for yourself


Mark 4:39-40
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
3. Take control of your life


Psalm 34:4
“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.”
 
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

4. You're not alone


Psalm 118:6-7
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper.” 
 
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

5. Trust in God and give him all your fears


Psalm 27:1
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 56:3
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

John 14:27
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”

Remember He loves you and I do too!! You're a strong person and you can fight everything that comes in your way, just ask for direction and He will give it to you!
