Creating your own blog- Basic Knowledge

by - February 22, 2019

Hello my beautiful people, welcome back!

Today I'm going to be sharing the basic steps for creating your own blog. It's going to be a basic and simple explaining and I will be going deeper in my next post choosing every step and explaining completely. I recommend that if you want to create a blog to generate income you should make a budget plan for a whole year so you're prepare to pay the monthly subscriptions without having to worry that you have not started to generate money yet, to pay them.

1. Pick your name
This is one of the most important steps because it going to reflect what your blog is about and also it's going to reflect who you're. You can chose your name based on:
1. Your hobbies or passion
2. Your studies or professional career
3. Personal experiences
4.Look out for the different niches out there

2. Blog Platform
This step is important because you have to choose the best platform that suits your goals. They're a lot of platforms some with monthly payments and some are free. Here are the most use:

1. Blogger
2. Wordpress
3. Wix
4. Squarespace
5. Weebly

This are just the most common that I know of, but there is a lot more out there. You just have to look for them and choose which one is better for you. I personally use blogger.com, but I have an account in every one of the options I mention since they all offer different things I wanted to know how work they platforms. Even though wordpress is the most use of all of this 5 options I didn't like it that much. Squarespace have a lot of beautiful option for you and you have to pay a monthly subscription. The same goes for wix and weebly you can create the templates and everything but you need the monthly subscription to connect your domain.  I mean it's not expensive but at the moment I started blogging I was looking for the less expensive ones so that way I could save more money. Wordpress and Weebly have a free plan but you have to use a Sub-domain that they provide and not your own. The good thing is that you can buy your domain with your blog platform or you can buy it in your web hosting platform.

I already had my domain, so I was looking for a blog platform that allow me use it without have to pay a monthly subscription. That's is why I choose blogger and even though I love how it has work I'm thinking on moving my blog to squarespace or wix I'm not sure yet, I'm looking for my options.

3. Hosting
Other important step is finding the best web hosting for you. There is a lot out there, some of the most use are bluehost, godaddy, hostgator, among others. I personally use godaddy but I know many people who use bluehost because it offer other services and its better for wordpress.

1. Bluehost - The prices range from $2.95 to 13.95 per month
2. Godaddy  - The prices range from $2.49 to 12.99 per month
3. Hostgator - The prices range from $3.49 to $119 per month

The 3 of them are running a special sale, so be careful and read every detail so you know what you're taking yourself into. Even though I use godaddy I'm thinking on change to bluehost because it has more option for what I'm looking for. But either of the options are pretty good all its going to depend of what you want and need.

4. Domains
Once you have choose your blog name, your platform and the web hosting you can set your domains. What is the domains? The domains is the identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet (based on the web definition). They're used to identify one or more IP addresses and  are used in URLs to identify particular The domains are represented by suffixes to  indicates where they belong to, some examples are:
  • .gov - Government agencies
  • .edu - Educational institutions
  • .org - Organizations (nonprofit)
  • .mil - Military
  • .com - commercial business
  • .net - Network organizations
  • .ca - Canada
  • .th - Thailand
  • .us - United State
  • .blog

The domain you choose is going to depend on what is your blog about, for example if its educational it could use .edu or .org because are the most common and reliable domains in thar area. The most common domain is .com, specially in the blogger world. The .com is the one I use for my blog:
www.onepercentofsomething.com

I hope this is somewhat helpful and you can start creating your blog, like I said I'm going to be going more in detail on my next posts so stay tuned and if you have any questions let me know down below.

Happy Friday!
Love you guys!
